How do I use EndNote Cite While you Write with EndNote Online?

In summary you need to get an EndNote Online account, download and install the Cite While You Write (CWYW) plugin, and then change the Word Endnote preferences/settings to use EndNote Online using your EndNote account details.

First access Web of Science through Athens, then click EndNote and create an account.

You will first need to access EndNote Web/Online.

Do this by logging into your Athens account and opening Web of Science.

Then access EndNote by creating an account. Remember and note these details, as you will need them, and they are separate to your Athens Account. In the screenshot below I have entered these account details in order to the use the plugin.

You can then add references to your library in EndNote Online.

For more about adding references to your EndNote Online library see this guide.

Install and configure plugin

In EndNote Online, there is a downloads area where you can download the CWYW word plugin.

To install it, you may need to ask your IT contact or the National Service Desk to install it for you.

When it is installed you may need to change the preferences in the EndNote menu area of Word, so that it opens EndNote Online ( rather than the default EndNote Desktop ). You will also need to enter your EndNote/Web of Science account details.
